We talked recently about the Oregon state legislature's bill on maternal mental health and the importance of the mental health of pregnant and postpartum women. They've named March Maternal Mental Health Month - what better time to get involved?!
If you're interested in this issue and you speak Spanish - the Baby Blues Connection could use your help! They are looking for bilingual Spanish-speaking volunteers in the Portland and Vancouver area who can help provide telephone support to pregnant or postpartum moms and families. Baby Blues Connection will provide free training if you are interesting in being a volunteer. You don't need to have previous experience as a healthcare provider, and they will gladly talk to recovered moms who would like to become trained to provide support and resources to others.
Get involved. If you want to get involved or have any questions, please contact Wendy Davis at wdavis@postpartum.net or 503-246-0941.
If you need help right now with depression during or after pregnancy or know someone who does, please contact Baby Blues Connection.
